Assessment

From September 2018 the assessment systems used at Ashgate Croft School were changed. This was in response to the Rochford review and needs of the pupils in school. We will no longer be using P-levels to assess pupils' working below National Curriculum standard in English, Maths and Science and all subjects for sensory learners.

Learners are split into two groups; sensory learners and subject specific learners, different assessment systems will be used for these groups. Teachers are continuing to use an assessment programme called B squared. Pupils were base-lined in July 2018 and parents/carers were informed of new levels in September 2018. All new pupils are base-lined after they have been with us for a term (two half terms).

ADULT STEPS have remained the same as before.

In EYFS, KS1-4 assessment in other subjects will remain the same at present but will be reviewed and changed, if necessary during 1819.

Pupils in KS4+5 pupils will continue to be set targets in OCR for Personal Social Development (PSD), Independent Living Skills (ILS) and Community.

End of Year Assessment

For all pupils, end of year assessment will be against their end of year targets and recorded as limited progress/working towards/achieved/exceeded. Their progress will be tracked throughout the year. For other subjects, pupils will be assessed and this will be recorded as emerging/working within/achieved for each level, so that it is easier to track progress within levels.
